?     Comfort and familiarity with and/or the desire to learn more about sexual violence, violence prevention, advocacy, equity, social justice, and support of the mission of CARE.
?     Desire to provide support services and strengths-based programming to survivors
?     Commitment to designing inclusive programming, outreach and projects that reflect the needs of our campus community.
?     Ability to make a substantial commitment to the office (minimum of ten hours a week)
?     Skilled in the use of standard office equipment and software, including email
?     Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate and problem-solve in a positive manner with fellow students, supervisor, CARE staff and others
?     Team focused and collaborative attitude; ability to participate in a positive and supportive manner
?     Ability to work on several projects concurrently with frequent interruptions; ability to prioritize and time-manage; ability carry out assignments responsibly.
?     Ability to handle difficult, sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism and tact
?     A thorough knowledge of the services offered by CARE (training provided upon hire)
?     Highly organized and detail oriented
Skills Preferred: CARE Community Support Interns are students who receive training to provide trauma informed and survivor centered support and resources to the community. Community Support Interns will focus on support resources for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking by doing survivor outreach, marketing, healing events, and education on responding to disclosures and supporting survivors. This position will provide some peer counseling but will not provide crisis response, accompaniment, advising, or victim advocacy. Rather, this team of interns will be qualified and supported to respond to disclosures at events and within communities, providing emotional support, 1:1 education, and referrals to professional staff for advocacy.
Percentage of Time Duty
50% Outreach:
?     Provide confidential support at events,
?     Liaise with student groups and campus organizations
?     Create support resources and marketing
Individual support:
?     Connect peer-to-peer with students to provide resources, education, emotional support, and referrals
?     Provide peer counseling/check-ins for members of the UCSC community at potentially emotionally triggering events
25% Events:
?     Coordinate and implement healing events for survivors such as Yoga as Healing, Art Therapy, Therapy Dog Days, Comfy and Consensual workshops, etc.
?     Participate in event and program planning from brainstorming to implementation
?     Support publicity for events, including: flyering, class announcements, social media, etc.
?     Facilitate education for the campus community on supporting survivors and responding to disclosures.
25% Program development:
?     Engage in organizational development to improve CARE services, and support the CARE strategic plan
?     Utilize theory of change, logic modeling, program planning, and evaluation to foster high levels of accountability in the work
?     Participate in a variety of professional development and mentorship opportunities
?     Other duties as assigned
