Job Description
Skills Required: Experience or interest in facilitating and organizing events. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and goals. Attention to detail in event flow and logistics. Ability to take initiative in order to anticipate and complete tasks so events run smoothly. Ability to perform under pressure. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Great people skills. Ability to lift or move items such as chairs and tables.
Skills Preferred: Experience in event planning, set up, tear down, food service/catering. General office experience with knowledge of basic office processes and use of office machines including computers, copy machines and phones.
Percentage of Time Duty
60% Event Support, including but not limited to:
- Setting up tables & chairs. Preparing platters, setting up tables and arranging food dishes. Setting up beverage area which can consist of coffee, tea, water and/or lemonade etc. Checking in and welcoming guests.
- Interact with guests while working efficiently and professionally in a formal setting. Practice excellent customer service skills in all areas of this position. During events make sure platters and bowls are replenished, food tables are kept clean and organized. Make sure dirty dishes are moved to staging/cleaning area.
- Take down and clean up: Putting away tables and chairs. Removing trash and recycling after event.
30% Event and Program Prep, including but not limited to:
- Making copies of flyers and brochures.
- Posting flyers around campus.
- Depending on skills, designing flyers or decorations for events.

10% Administrative: check email consistently for new shift announcements. Stay in communication with supervisor regarding event timeline, requirements and recap. Maintain an awareness and sensitivity to issues of diversity and inclusion. Adhere to policies and procedures related to college events, facilities, and residential life. Track hours closely and submit time sheets on time.

Some events will take place off campus in downtown Santa Cruz. Student is responsible for transportation to the event space and can be reimbursed for transportation costs (milage & parking).

**May have FEW or NO hours in periods outside of event dates.**

Other opportunities may become available in the RCA during off peak weeks.
