Job Description
Skills Required: Self-starter with a demonstrable degree of technical aptitude, attention to detail, and strong customer service skills. Good organization skills. Good listening skills. Cooperative team player that works well with others. Technical skills should include familiarity with basic technology behind audio/video hardware. Ability to perform minor A/V equipment repairs with limited instruction. Ability to learn quickly on the job is a must. Knowledge of, or experience with, digital video production equipment, lighting, audio recording equipment, grip hardware. Ability to lift 40 lbs with or without accommodation.
Skills Preferred: Ability to inspect and do minor troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic equipment; namely cameras/camcorders, microphones, audio recorders, lighting equipment and similar media equipment.
Percentage of Time Duty
50% Technical: Inspect and check Film Department A/V equipment that is being returned from the field. Inspect returned equipment for missing parts or damage. Test equipment to make sure it is working properly. Fix/repair minor equipment issues. Ready equipment to be checked out. Answer client questions concerning department equipment and reservation process.
40% Administrative: Utilize Film Department reservation system to fulfill equipment checkout/checkin request from clients according to department policies. Keep accurate inspection records. Log equipment problem reports. Perform general shop duties, including stocking and inventory.
10% Clean and organize checkout lab. This will include sweeping, wiping counters, emptying trash cans and occasional mopping of floors etc.

Shifts are usually 3 to 7 hours , distributed throughout the business week. The number of hours worked weekly will be an average of 4 to 8, but it could be more or less. You should be available for 10 hours per week if needed. Priority placement will be given to students with greater hours of availability and flexibility in their schedules. Your shift will change change each quarter depending on your schedule of classes.

Applicants must also be willing to accept occasional on-call and/or shift-switching requests with 24 hours advance notice via email.
