Job Description
Skills Required: Ability to follow written and oral instructions, and pay close attention to detail, and exercise good judgment. Ability to work under moderate supervision in a cooperative, team-focused workplace. Must be able to problem solve, take initiative and complete tasks as assigned

Either prior experience or aptitude in building maintenance, grounds maintenance, painting, or construction work. Training in maintenance tasks will be provided.

Demonstrated knowledge of safety practices in the use of hand- and power tools.

Demonstrated skill in the use of hand- and power tools.

The ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with diverse student and staff population.

Ability to safely lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted. The ability to work from stepladders, to perform work overhead, and to perform tasks that require repetitive motions.

Skills Preferred: Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a good driving record.




Percentage of Time Duty
70% Perform maintenance and repairs in housing areas.
The ability to work with hand and power tools, assist with preventive maintenance and minor repairs to plumbing fixtures, door hardware, and windows.
Snake drains, replace light bulbs/clean light covers, and perform minor wood work.

When needed; move, repair and refinish furniture. Assist with projects as directed by the Senior Building Maintenance Worker Maintenance Supervisor and.

Assist in the completion of daily Maintenance requests and ongoing Facilities related projects.

Prepare and paint interior and small exterior surfaces; make minor drywall repairs; and clean-up housing areas as assigned.
Move furniture, tools, and equipment; mask areas not being painted and cover furniture and flooring. Remove or paint over graffiti.
15% Take inventory and pack collected household hazardous and universal waste (batteries, paint, fluorescent light bulbs, etc.) and deliver to designated collection points.
Assist residential recycling program. Post recycling and resource conservation information for residents.
10% Clean walls, floors, and windows. Distribute household cleaning supplies to residents.
5% Make pickups and deliveries using the University truck.

Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
