Job Description
Skills Required: Ability to bend & lift up to 40 lbs, and perform other repetitive motions. Ability to work safely with general cleaning chemicals. Must be responsible, have a positive work attitude, and be able to work either in a team atmosphere or independantly. Must be able to work an agreed upon number of hours per week during each quarter. Must be interested in Waste Reduction, Environmental and Social issues. Must have current California Driver's license
Skills Preferred: *Prefer experience in planning recycling or waste reduction programs in residential facilities
*Prefer College 9/10, Porter or Kresge student
*Prefer experience with desk top publishing/Word/Google Docs
*Prefer completion of two or more Lower Division Environmental Studies courses at time of hiring
Percentage of Time Duty
40% Assist Facilities Analyst to identify waste reduction related educational gaps. Assist in designing and implementing programs that would improve the Universities waste reduction goals. Other related Waste Reduction Program duties may be assigned as appropriate.
60% Drive a van or truck to gather e-waste and other universal waste, sort and deliver these items for recycling. Gather the Central Zone compost bins, empty them, clean them and return them (this is wet sloppy smelly work).

Special Comments: This job has two main components, physical and creative. The physical side can be dirty, wet and occasionally smelly. The creative part is both artistic by way of graphic design and finding new ways to approach utility conservation education though in person outreach, social media or other creative ideas.
