Job Description
Skills Required: Under the general supervision of the Residential Life and Housing Office Coordinator, the Student Housing Assistant (SHA) will aid in the daily operations of the College Nine and College Ten Residential Life and Housing Office: including reception, data entry, copying, desktop publishing, word processing, filing, taking messages, answering and returning phone calls and multi-tasking. Projects will also be assigned as needed. Workload is fairly moderate throughout the year and especially heavy during the beginning and end of each quarter. Must maintain strict confidentiality, exercise careful judgment, serve as a role model, meet established deadlines, be punctual and dependable, posses strong organizational skills, be able to prioritize and problem solve, and maintain a professional manner. Must be in good academic and judicial standing, must be available to work 8 to 12 hours per week during the academic year, have Macintosh computer knowledge, possess public relation skills, and be able to use conflict resolution skills.

Work Schedule Expectations: Shifts scheduled 8AM - 5PM M-F unless otherwise listed. Required dates: (Fall Quarter) September 21st, 2018 - December 14th, 2018. (Winter quarter) January 04, 2019 - March 23, 2019. (Spring quarter) April 01, 2019 - June 17, 2019; Spring Quarter also includes some weeknights during the Priority Housing Application Period and graduation weekend is included, hours will vary from 8am - 8pm. Throughout each quarter it is expected and required of the student housing assistant to work through finals week; adjustments will be made to the schedule for this week based on student finals schedules.

Highly Preferred Recommended Dates - Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 - Thursday, September 20th, 2018 for Fall Move In prep and Early Move Ins. Spring Break - March 25, 2019 - March 31, 2019.

Skills Preferred: College Nine or College Ten student who has lived on campus for at least one year with excellent customer service skills, the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Filemaker Pro, and ability to multi-task in high-paced or steady environment and work independently. College Nine or College Ten Student Strongly Preferred.
Percentage of Time Duty
100% The Student Housing Assistant will assist the professional and paraprofessional staff Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM, in the office and at the College, with projects as assigned. Tasks include: create and distribute fliers and other publications, answer telephones, provide customer service, take messages for professional staff, perform lock-outs, record quarterly key inventories, create key packets as needed, schedule meetings, file keys and paperwork, answer general College/housing/student life questions and know where to direct questions when necessary, organize and distribute mass mailings, make copies, run errands for professional staff on campus, secure the Residential Life and Housing Office and be receptionist in the absence of professional staff. Potential to work on occasional weekends for large scale events such as commencement/ graduation and move in/move out.
