Skills Required: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: 1. Proven record of high academic achievements in area or areas in which tutorial assistance is offered. 2. Ability to relate materials in a sensitive and effective manner and general understanding of tutoring dynamics. 3. Experience working with students from multi-cultural and multi-ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities, and/or economically disadvantaged students. 4. Good academic standing, ability to listen, have commitment, and at least JUNIOR status or proven mastery of subject area.

60% LEARNING SUPPORT SERVICES MSI LEARNING ASSISTANT AND/OR SUBJECT TUTOR Under the direction of the MSI/Tutor Coordinators, the Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Humanities Learning Assistant/Tutor will be responsible for: 1. Tutoring students in one or more of the following areas: Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science & Engineering, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Spanish, and Writing.
40% 2. The MSI Learning Assistant/Subject Tutor will help their students make the transition to University-level work, advising them on strategies for studying, note-taking and test-taking. (20%) 3. Attending when necessary, classes, meetings, Professors and/or sections of assigned tutees and reviewing course materials, lecture notes and assignments. Collecting and reviewing course syllabus, recording course requirements, dates of examinations, deadlines for homework, papers, and/or class projects. Reviewing all materials covered during previous tutorial sessions. Maintaining appropriate records and documents of all tutorial sessions. (10%) 4. Meeting with the MSI/Tutor Coordinators on a quarterly basis to report any personal, non-tutorial related problems or concern and/or any notable academic or personal difficulties with assigned tutees. Attending all training sessions, workshops and/or meetings organized or conducted by MSI/Tutor Coordinators. (5%) 5. Any additional duties assigned by the MSI/Tutor Coordinators. (5%)
