Skills Required: This position will work collaboratively and independently to ensure the ongoing success of several projects, including but not limited to 1) the Employee Sustainability Certificate Program, 2) UCSC Reporting on Sustainability Academics in the Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating Program and 3) special projects that build upon existing programs. This position is housed in the Sustainability Office and overseen by the Sustainability Program Manager.

We require that all applicants posses:

- Excellent motivation and organizational skills with ability to prioritize work and complete tasks independently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience planning and hosting events
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative to keep work moving forward
- Knowledge of and experience working on sustainability issues, broadly defined
- Excellent communication skills, including confidence in presentation and public speaking abilities
- Excel, Word, and PowerPoint proficiency



Skills Preferred: * Excellent command of Microsoft Word and Excel
* Experience with formatting similar documents


Percentage of Time Duty
40% Support the Sustainability Certificate by assisting in the administration of the program. This includes but is not limited to: providing support for the set up and clean up for classes, offered on Wednesday afternoons; assisting in the management of the participant database; interfacing with the UC Learning Center's registration system; coordinating purchase orders for food for classes and events; helping to plan graduation ceremony; assisting in disseminating and writing evaluations and reports of the program. Work with the Sustainability Program Manager to establish short and long-term goals and milestones that support the Campus Sustainability Plan and existing programs through special projects.
40% Conduct education & outreach necessary to recruit staff to the Sustainability Certificate Program. This includes but is not limited to: updating website content; writing articles for the Sustainability Office Newsletter and other campus publications; tabling at events; speaking in public forums about the Sustainability Certificate Program
10% Assist with the gathering of data for UCSC's Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) report on sustainability academics, research and community engagement.
10% Participate in Sustainability Office-sponsored events, such as student staff orientation, Inter-Org Retreat, CHESC annual Sustainability Conference, and other events as necessary. Coordinate and collaborate on special projects that support the Campus Sustainability Plan, as needed.
