Job Description
Skills Required: * Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills - you will be communicating large amounts of information to students

* Ability to represent the Career Center in a professional manner
* Ability to creatively problem solve to help answer student questions, and willingness to learn
* Initiative to take on additional tasks and projects as needed

Must commit for the entire 2020-2021 academic year, and be available to work 8-12 hours per week
Skills Preferred: We're looking for high energy, positive student leaders who want to make a difference!

Second and third year students preferred (sophomore and junior standing)

Percentage of Time Duty
70% Advise undergraduate students in the initial stages of the career development process:
- Conduct drop-in advising, both individually and in groups, to critique resumes and cover letters, connect students with career resources, and answer career-related questions
- Create a warm and welcoming environment in the Career Center
- Serve as the first contact in the Career Center at the front desk, including assessing student needs upon their arrival, directing them to the appropriate resources, checking them in, and answering phone calls or other inquiries as necessary
15% - Present and conduct outreach on behalf of Career to other campus partners with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Participate in and assist with Career workshops and events
10% - Demonstrate how to use Handshake, FOCUS 2 and ER System software to students
- Create and refine career resource materials for students
- Update and maintain pages on the Career website
5% Assume other responsibilities as needed.

Special Comments: Interviews will be held during Winter Quarter. For priority consideration, please apply no later than February 21st. Upon hire, Peer Coaches will participate in training both online and in person during Spring Quarter, and must be available for in person training during the week of September 20th, 2020.
