Job Description
Skills Required: Knowledge of technical set ups with experience in professional sound and lighting equipment. Good organizational skills, ability to keep accurate records, and ability to keep workspace organized with attention to inventory maintenance and security. Ability to provide leadership and direction on site. Must be able to work in professional manner with performers, musicians, sponsors, and staff.
Skills Preferred: Minimum of one year experience working audio visual equipment or equivalent experiences.
Percentage of Time Duty
50% Provide technical assistance for a variety of events that take place for Merrill and Crown Colleges and at other sites. Includes, mixing sounds for dances and concerts, lighting dining halls for performances, college nights, plays, and lectures; delivering equipment, and showing films. Assist tech crew supervisor in developing accurate estimates on technical production costs, coordinate and load in and strike arrangements and accommodate the tech needs of performers within the confines of available equipment.
15% Assist in the maintenance of all AV equipment inventory, stage areas, equipment storage areas, and back stage area. Performs minor maintenance on all AV equipment and assists tech crew supervisor in making arrangements for major repairs or purchases. Assists tech crew supervisor in performance of administrative duties.
5% Responsible for knowing campus policies and regulations as they relate to event productions, fire, security, parking, alcohol use, etc. Responsible for ensuring that all events meet these requirements, as well as upholding contractual agreements as stated in Univesrity Performance Agreements when applicable.
30% Assist Tech Crew Supervisor in the training and coordination of Merrill/Crown Tech/Events Crew, assigning them various jobs as they come in throughout the year. Attend/lead events crew meetings as directed by Tech Crew Supervisor. Other duties as assigned.
