Job Description
Skills Required: Work 8-12 hours per week; hours will vary depending on events happening in a particular week or month.
Attend regular Student Assistant meetings, be an active member/participant
Adapt to changing policies and procedures and demonstrate versatility and creativity;
Work cooperatively and effectively with students, faculty, staff and co-workers of diverse cultural backgrounds;
Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently while also functioning as an integral member of a dynamic team;
Reliable and punctual;
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
Experience with, or knowledge of, word processing systems, databases, excel and Internet with willingness to learn new systems;
Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce professional correspondence using accurate grammar, style and punctuation;
Comprehend, interpret and relay (technical or procedural) information with clarity and accuracy;
Exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential situations or materials and,
Professional appearance and positive approach to customer service.

Skills Preferred: Students previously on a Study Abroad Program would be preferred but not required.
Reception/clerical experience;
Experience working with diverse cultures and people in an academic setting;
Customer Service experience
Design and marketing background
Research experience

75% GENERAL OFFICE DUTIES: Provide professional, service-oriented reception for the Division of Global Engagement; provide a welcoming atmosphere; greet visitors; have patience and empathy when dealing with language barriers and non-American cultural assumptions.
Provide clerical support: Typing documents and correspondence in a timely and accurate manger; database entry; spreadsheets and reports; organize and maintain daily working files; document filing; mailings and photocopying; adhere to FERPA and other confidentiality policies of student and scholar information. Work on marketing for the office and maintain the outside boards with up to date information. Other tasks as assigned by Global Engagement staff.
25% PROGRAMMING: Assist with special projects and events such as fairs, workshops on campus, orientations, international mingles, photo contests and tabling; share ideas to better promote the Global Engagement Office throughout the University. Student Assistants must be comfortable speaking in front of small and large audiences. Student Assistants must be available outside of typical working hours when events occur.
