Job Description
Skills Required: Qualified candidates must not be Psychology or Cognitive Science majors due to the confidential nature of handling course material and exams.

•     Related clerical and administrative experience;
•     Ability to work in a professional manner with diverse populations of faculty, staff, and students in a number of capacities;
•     Must have the ability to do complex filing, photocopying, and collating.
•     Knowledge of correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading;
•     Experience using Google Calendar, email, FileMaker Pro, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word and Excel);
•     Ability to learn new programs quickly;
•     Computer experience sufficient to complete assignments with speed and accuracy;
•     Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and customer-service skills;
•     Good time management and problem-solving skills;
•     Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
•     Must be able to take initiative and work independently;
•     Experience with Macintosh system and demonstrated skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel, FileMaker Pro and Adobe Acrobat;
•     Must have the ability to use good judgment and discretion in handling confidential materials.
•     Ability to track projects and work priorities to ensure that work is produced in a timely manner.
Skills Preferred: 1. Work well with several staff members and also independently
2. Maintain a regular work schedule. This is established on a quarterly basis. A high priority is placed on the student's need for flexibility in pursuing his/her university studies
3. Be comfortable in a fast-paced office environment
4. Experience working in an academic setting;
5. General knowledge of the UCSC campus;
6. Experience working in a customer service setting;
7. Experience maintaining inventory of office supplies.
Percentage of Time Duty
75% Complex filing of documents in hard copy and electronic formats; Photocopying, faxing, scanning documents into PDFs, distributing daily incoming mail and packages. Word processing, including forms, labels, envelopes, and correspondence. Maintaining an accurate inventory of supplies and stock shelves when orders arrive.
25% Miscellaneous duties: assist in maintaining, updating and decorating various bulletin boards; provide courier service; help maintain our storage room, copy room and office cleaning, emptying recycling bins, and assisting faculty in special projects and events.

Special Comments: Must be available to work over Summer break. However, we understand that you may already have planned engagements over break, so a flexible work schedule can be discussed.

Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods (up to 6 hours/day) with or without accommodation.

Must posses the ability to move materials weighing up to 30lbs with or without accommodation.

The Psychology department offers a flexible work schedule to match the student’s need in regards to classes and exams.

Due to the confidential nature of this position, we are unable to hire Psychology and Cognitive Science majors.
