Job Description
Skills Required: Moderate or advanced graphic design and website maintenance skills and demonstrated previous experience.

Excellent motivation and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize work and work independently in a fast-paced environment with pressures of deadlines.

Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, and web content management systems.

Experience with Google environment such as calendar, drive, slides, and sheets.

Exceptional attention to detail and creativity.

Strong editing, formatting and proofreading skills.
Skills Preferred: Interest in and clear understanding of sustainability.

Excellent speaking, writing, and conversational skills.

Interest and experience in outreach and communications on campus.
Percentage of Time Duty
60% Update website content, update site map, ongoing site maintenance and troubleshooting. Designing outreach materials: flyers, posters, banners, brochures, etc. Sporadic assistance with social media.
20% Recommend overall website design improvements, hold focus groups regarding overall website design and ease of navigation, support ongoing website related projects
20% Participate in weekly team meetings, monthly Sustainability Office student leadership meetings to provide input, collaborate on projects and programming and share information/resources. Participate in Sustainability Office-sponsored events, such as student staff orientation, Inter-Org Retreat, and other events as necessary

Special Comments: The Graphic Designer/Website Assistant will provide design and website editing skills related to coordination of campus sustainability efforts. Ideal design skills: knowledge of one or more of the following, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign. Ideal website skills: WCMS (UCSC’s official CMS platform) or other CMS platforms like Wordpress, Squarespace or Drupal. This candidate will work on various designs of educational materials including a monthly newsletter, social media, flyers and print materials. They will also attend weekly meetings and conduct outreach through presentations and tabling events. To apply, visit the Career Center website and search for position #8089.

Start Date: End of Spring. Open until position is filled. Academic year position with possibility of some Summer projects.
