* Mandatory employee orientation and training on Friday, October 18 5:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday, October 19, 2019 10:30am-3:30pm, actual time TBD* *

•     Previous experience in a cashiering position; making change, and with point-of-sale systems
•     Experience serving the public and others, with superior customer service skills.
•     Must be available evenings and weekends. Typical shift: Thurs, Fri, Sat 5:30-8:30pm and Sun. 1-4pm.
•     Must be committed to working through the last two weeks of each quarter
•     Total hours: approximately 3–12 hrs/wk during events season
•     Learn “University Tickets” online ticketing system for sales, order processing, refunds/exchanges, holds/releases, database management, and generating reports.
•     Demonstrated skill in dealing with customer concerns to sort out the details in a courteous, helpful manner and to resolve to the satisfaction of the customer and the department / producer.
•     Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in stressful public interactions with an emphasis on providing outstanding customer service and support.
•     Ability to make decisions on immediate problems, within scope of authority, based on proper knowledge of policies and procedures.
•     Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
•     Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
•     Experience with PC operating system
•     Knowledge of cash-handling and reconciliation procedures.
Skills Preferred: •     Experience in a performing arts ticket office operation and/or hospitality, events, or entertainment environment.
•     Experience in a cashiering position, making change, and with POS systems.
•     Experience with ticketing software.
•     Experience in a retail environment.
•     MS Office Suite including Word and Excel.
•     Experience working on UCSC campus.

Percentage of Time Duty
75% Customer Service

• As a member of the Arts Events Office (AEO) Audience Services team, the ATA will maintain contact with a wide range of constituents, including: university staff and faculty, students, alumni, donors, VIPs, directors, producers, artists, performers/cast/crew, parents, and the general public.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of each upcoming event, driving and parking instructions, disability access and accommodations, venue capacities, and special notices to patrons.

• Sell tickets, will-call and complimentary tickets, release “holds” for sale as needed when asked by Arts Ticketing Manager (ATM), Arts Events Office, or front-of-house manager.

• Offer a speedy checkout and a genuine interaction with every patron by being knowledgeable, friendly, and aware of how your actions impact the patron’s experience with the Arts Division.

• Educate customers on the benefits of using ucsctickets.com.

• Alert ATM to any operational challenges or customer concerns on a timely basis and seeks appropriate resolutions.

• Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
25% Administration

• Assist Arts Ticketing Manager in generating, printing, and distributing ticketing reports to house manager.

• Make decisions based on policy or procedures regarding patron inquiries and defer to Arts Ticketing Manager (ATM) and Arts Events Office (AEO) staff as necessary for complex situations or for exceptions.

• Maintain cleanliness, filing, and organization in ticket windows and offices.

• Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by ATM or AEO.
