Job Description
Skills Required: Candidates must be able to commit to position for full 2019-2020 academic year, including training during Welcome Week.
Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing as of the start of the academic year 2019-2020
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others from diverse backgrounds.
Self-motivated, ability and willingness to take initiative.
Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing throughout employment.
Cumulative UC GPA of 2.6 or higher.
Skills Preferred: Experience working with peers in an educational setting.
Knowledge of campus resources and services.

Percentage of Time Duty
50% Individual coaching meetings and outreach- Meet with referred students in one-on-one and small group settings; assist students in identifying areas for growth; utilize coaching curriculum and materials to aid students in the refinement or development of academic and personal skills; help students create and implement individualized plans for action.
20% Programming- Conduct small group workshops, participate in student panels or other events related to student success. As assigned- work with Stevenson 26: Navigating the Research University class.
10% Regular trainings, weekly meetings with supervisor, opportunities for professional development.
20% Miscellaneous- Projects as assigned, participation in advising outreach efforts, tabling events, enrollment outreach, producing "best bets" document to aid course selection.

Special Comments: Peer Academic Success Coaches offer academic support and guidance to their fellow students with the aim of developing academic skills and behaviors. Peer Coaches also help students tap into existing strengths and past successes in learning how to adapt and thrive in the university setting.

Peer Coaches work with referred students in one-on-one, small group, and workshop settings, and guide students through skill-based curriculum that includes topics such as: combating procrastination, educational goal setting, and identifying learning and study strategies. Peer Coaches are also equipped to effectively refer students to appropriate campus resources and services as needed.
