Job Description
Skills Required: Strong background in customer service, in person and by phone. Demonstrated reliability. Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and all Google applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills including data entry and tracking with strict attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast paced office independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills including; tact, and diplomacy. Positive team building and community service focused attitude.
Skills Preferred: Experience handling confidential materials. Prior experience working with leadership, faculty, staff, students, or the general public. Familiarity with UCSC systems such as CruzBuy. Advanced computers skills in applications such as PowerPoint or Visio.
Percentage of Time Duty
75% Reception
Serve as first point of contact for the Chancellor’s office with outstanding customer service. Answer the phone while greeting visitors in a busy reception area, transfer calls and take messages appropriately. Prepare area for open and close the reception desk daily. Provide campus resources and referrals as needed. Interact professionally with a diverse group of people including the public, staff, faculty, parents, and students. Ensure all inquiries and guests receive personal and prompt assistance. Clean, re stock and supply shared Kerr Hall facility areas. Collaborate, cross-train and provide support to other office staff and initiatives.
25% Provide assistance and follow-up for a variety of tasks and projects of varying complexity, including but not limited to; word processing, data entry, organization, event coordination, office supply ordering, photocopying, scanning, faxing, and e-mailing. Schedule conference rooms via google calendar. Maintain technology check out logs and insure equipment is returned. Work independently and with other student workers on other duties assigned to meet projects and deadlines.
