Job Description
Skills Required: Interest in and aptitude for web development, web management, web design and telling the UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute story. Expertise in using content management systems for the web (WordPress, Drupal) to develop, design and maintain websites; knowledge of basic HTML. Interest in optimizing web content for search engines using metadata and SEO tools; interest in editorial, proofreading aptitude; understanding of English grammar and punctuation; ability to research information on the Internet; excellent attention to detail.

Experience taking, editing photos & videos, and designing eye­catching, effective promotional
materials using Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and Illustrator + Indesign) plus collaborative use
of Canva; writing, editing and designing graphics for social media a plus.

Previous office experience, including typing; familiarity with G Suite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Sites); file system navigation, and email; self-directed, good time management skills, ability to ask questions, prioritize multiple tasks; willing to take initiative and work independently; ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others.

70% Working under the direction of the Communications Manager, use Google G Suite and content management systems to design and maintain websites. Leverage content provided by the Communications Manager to create compelling content, in a timely manner and drive traffic to our websites, increase reach and raise awareness.
20% Design flyers, posters and other promotional and graphic materials; Use iModules or similar system to build electronic newsletters
5% Take photographs, video for social media, web, and posters; maintain files of the server
5% General administrative tasks, including quality control checks and website testing; special projects as assigned, which could include errands; conference room and audio-visual system setup; assisting in preparing for and staffing events
