Skills Required: Experience preparing community meals, and hosting potlucks
Social, engaging, goal-oriented individual. Comfortable with public speaking
Experience with promoting organizations via physical media, the web, and social media
Strong computer skills, including experience working with excel and google docs
Excellent communication, in person, by computer, and on the phone
Ability to communicate appropriately with diverse individuals, including staff, alumni, students, and community members
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a professional manner
Ability to think creatively to engage and coordinate volunteers
Good organizational and time management skills
Punctual
Willingness to learn and share information about the Common Ground Center with the public
Strong connection with UC Santa Cruz
Willingness to commit to the position for the full academic year

Skills Preferred: Experience building coalitions and collaborative teams
Experience facilitating meetings
Experience with The World Cafe, Open Space Technology and other methods for hosting dialogue
Experience with public speaking
Volunteer coordination experience
Familiarity and past experience with Common Ground Center, SUA, college governments, student organizations, the City and County of Santa Cruz, and community organizations.

Percentage of Time Duty
25% Outreach and Promotion of Common Ground Events

Co-produce high quality graphics and posters to promote Common Ground Center and its programs, services, and events.
Co-produce written and video communications, including press releases, e-newsletters, and short videos.
Co-manage our online community site and facebook page
Co-coordinate tabling at University events, for example the Harvest Festival and Earth Summit.
Co-coordinate volunteers for events when necessary.
Attend the meetings of our collaborative partners.
Collaborate with Common Ground Student Board to advertise, distribute fliers, and share events via email lists and social media sites.
Inform the student body about the purpose, importance, and undertakings of Common Ground Center.
Outreach to the student body so Common Ground can address student needs and wants.
25% Event Coordination and Planning

Co-coordinate the purchase, preparation, setup and clean up of our meals.
Obtain food permit when appropriate
Oversee event setup and cleanup, volunteers. Must be available for evening and weekend shifts as needed.
25% Grant writing and Fundraising

Coordinate the writing of grants to support Common Ground Center projects and events
Work with the Common Ground Student Board in maintaining the budget of the year
Does not have budgetary authority but can make alternative budgets and suggestions for the fiscal health of the organization.
Maintain clear communication with our funders
Internal communication with Common Ground Center students, faculty, staff and supporters
Work closely with Kresge College Staff to ensure effective management of granted funds.
Keep detailed ledger of all income and expenses in real time
Helps prepare requisitions, purchase orders and reimbursements.
Attend trainings and prepare presentations for funding and grants
25% Attend biweekly Common Ground Student Staff meetings.
Work with Student Board and volunteers to delegate tasks
Complete a short evaluation after each quarter about what worked and what could be improved.
